October 19, 2018

In 2017, forecasters predict that around 223 million people in the U.S. will be using a smartphone which is about 83.8% of all mobile users. Out of these 223 million users over 90 million will own an iPhone making Apple’s iOS the leading operating system in America next to Android. The newest version of iOS 12 is supposed to make your iPhone experience faster, more responsive and more delightful according to Apple. Here are the top major changes happening with iOS 12, I’m sure it will help one of you 90 million plus iPhone users.

First up, Performance, the iOS has been enhanced for a faster and more responsive experience all around. The regular things you do like launching camera or typing with the keyboard will happen faster than ever. This will also help when your doing a lot of things on your device all at once. These enhancements are said to improve performance on all supported devices, going all the way back to iPhone 5s. Apple claims you will notice up to 70% faster swipe to camera, up to 50% faster key board display and up to 2x faster app launch under heavy workload.

Later this Fall, the operating system will allow you to FaceTime with up to 32 people all at once. You can start group FaceTime right from a group thread in Messages or join an active one at any time. Making this a handy solution especially for those who are constantly on the go.

Next Memoji will now allow you to easily create a Memoji to match your personality and mood. This will allow you to make an many alter egos as you want to use in Messages and FaceTime. The upgraded iOS iPhone version will also allow you to choose from four new Animoji-koala, tiger, ghost, or T.rex- to inject fun into your next messages or FaceTime. Now you can be more expressive than ever on your mobile phone.

Lastly, you will be able to liven up the conversation with camera effects. Add personality to Messages and FaceTime right from the in-app camera. Create and share a photo or video with Animoji, Memoji, cool filters, animated text effects, fun stickers and more.

Other features included with iOS 12:

• An Apple Books app that replaces iBooks.

• A “For You” section in the Photos app.

• Notifications are grouped and now have a “manage” tab.

• The Do Not Disturb During Bedtime feature changes how notifications are handled at night.

• Safari now includes Intelligent Tracking Prevention. With this feature, you can disable social media “like” and “share” buttons.

• Maps app now includes first-party data.

• CarPlay now features the ability to run third-party navigation applications.

• Devices with Face ID, iOS 12 lets you add two faces for authentication now, instead of only one.

Now that you know what changes came about the newest iOS version go ahead and test it out. I know my family and I had tons of fun playing with the new Memoji and Animoji. Is this the worlds most advanced mobile operating system? I say so far, Yes! You can’t go wrong if 90 million users are using an iPhone.
