Samsung Galaxy S10 & S10 Plus Release Date and What to Expect

While the Samsung Galaxy S9 was one of this year's hottest Android smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is under the works. Here is what we should expect from Samsung's next best smartphone.

There have been a few leaks and rumors about the Samsung lineup, including a lite version and an ultra 5G model. Keep reading to find out the details on the display, screen, camera, specifications and release date.

Display & Design:

Samsung CEO DJ Koh reported the S10 lineup will come with radical changes one of those are the "amazing array of color options. In addition to bright yellow and green options, Samsung may use ceramic fo the rear panel on a black and white Galaxy S10. The ceramic provides a high shine and is also very strong which could help resist scratches and marks more effectively.

In December, the famous Samsung leaker Ice Universe offered us a glimpse of what he believes the upcoming Galaxy S10 will look like based on a photo of the screen protector. He believes the bezels will be nearly non-existent on the Galaxy S10. The phone will show nearly a 100 percent screen to body ratio, thanks to cutouts in the AMOLED display for the camera sensors.

There may be three versions of the Galaxy S10, according to sources who spoke with Bloomberg. Rumor has is that the upcoming phones are referred to under the codename Beyond; Beyond 1 and Beyond 2 which are likely the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus. At Least two model swill reportedly feature the fingerprint -on-display (FOD) technology as well as AMOLED screens. Sources also refer to the Beyond 0, which is possibly a Galaxy S10 Lite a budget friendly version with a side mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Wall Street Journal reports the display sizes for the Samsung Galaxy S10 would range from 5.8 inches to 6.4 inches, and that a future 5G model would feature a massive 6.7 inch screen.

Ming-Chi Kuo claims there will be one model with 5.8-inch display, one with a 6.1, and one with a 6.4 display, and that the two high end models will have an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Release Date:

No one really knows the exact release date of Samsung's newest smartphone. However, The Bell says Samsung is aiming for a January 2019 release for the Galaxy S10 at the annual CES trade show in Las Vegas. Others rumor the release date to be Feb-Mar 2019 but remains unknown.

Camera:

Chinese social media platform Weibo, has shown an image of the Galaxy S10 screen protector confirming the cutout of the dual selfie cameras. According to 91Mobiles the Galaxy S10 has 3 rear cameras with one standard, one wide angle and one telephoto lens (sitting horizontally on the top third of the phone), 2 front cameras.

All in all anticipate richer photos and better spatial perception on this new model. Samsung may increase camera performance by adding more lenses. Earlier this year Sammobile predicted the Galaxy S10 will come with three camera lenses on the back. The main lens will be the same 12-megapixel variable aperture lens joined by a 16-megapixel wide -angle lens with a 123-degree field of view. The third lense seems to be the as the S9 Plus- a 13-megapixel lens, likely equipped with a 2x telephoto zoom. The Wall Street Journal claims the Galaxy S10 will come with four rear camera lens and two front facing cameras.

Security:

Samsung may introduce a new fingerprint sensor. ET News reported that Samsung will use Qualcomm's third generation ultrasonic in display fingerprint sensors in its upcoming Galaxy S10 handsets. Qualcomm's technology can capture 3d Fingerprint data, allowing for higher accuracy and better security.

Software & Special Features:

According to Digital Trends there is a possibility that the Galaxy S10 will feature improved health apps. Let's Go Digital recently patented a new technology that allows a Samsung app to determine your skin type and can suggest recommendations to limit sun exposure. The app will apparently used photos of different parts of your body to determine skin type and constantly provide you with tips and measure your UV exposure.

Galaxy versions include: Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10 5G.

6.44-inch display infinity O display that has a cutout drilled into the screen panel to ensure a full-screen display without incorporating a notch. One of the versions of the S10 will support ultra high speed 5G networks. 5G is a new wireless standard that promises extremely fast data speeds and potentially less congestion than today's 4G LTE standard.

Specifications:

According to digital Trends It is likely Samsung will use its Exynos 9820 chipset for the Galaxy S10 which Samsung claims is 20-percent better than its predecessor and 40-percent more efficient. The new Exynos 9820 chipset will have a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to support artificial intelligence tasks, and 8K video at 30 frames per second.
